What If...A Thought About Worrying

What If...A Thought About Worrying

19 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”

Worry is an unknown fear,........too much calculation of the damage effect that can bring to your life...it exaggerates thoughts that makes ourselves unhappy and upset..Most of our worries are more likely will never come true and it worsen our situation. Elijah was a great prophet of God, miracles and powerful fire that consumes offerings that proves God's omnipotent through his prayer that showed in the very eyes of the prophet of Baal that there is only true God that must be believed and worshiped. But in one threat of a woman, an evil woman...makes Elijah helpless and hopeless, the courage and faith of a great prophet melted by a nonsense word of a woman. Elijah ran for his life and asked God to end it...

Overwhelmed by fear, his thought were being occupied by worry and anxiety that resulted in forgetting who is in his side, forgetting who God is, forgetting what God had done in the past, what God can do in his situation in the present. Focusing in the threat not in trusting God, Focusing in the problem, not in the powerful God, focusing in running for his life rather than praying and trusting God.

I remember an old song, a hymn

Count Your Blessing

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be disheartened, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

When worry attack...Count your Blessing.
Instead of worrying.. Pray and Trust God..
He is in your side.
